Detroit historian Ken Coleman points out on X that Wednesday marks the 41st anniversary of Jet magazine reporting that Sammy Davis Jr. and Berry Gordy Jr. were collaborating on a song titled Hello Detroit.
While it certainly never caught on like Frank Sinatra's New York, New York or Tony Bennett's I Left My Heart in San Francisco, it was a catchy tune.
In honor of this anniversary, we thought we'd share the song.
